It comfortably accommodated our extended family of 8 adults and 3 dogs for the weekend and the Aga kept the place warm and cosy (and the dogs loved it!). Wiveliscombe Tennis Club is located just a two minute walk from Sharpe Cottage and is a bit of a local gem. Founded way back in 1926, this club is more than just a place to play tennis; it’s a vibrant part of our community here in Somerset.
The club offers three top-notch, fully-maintained courts where you can play all year round. Two of them have full floodlighting, so you can keep playing even when the sun decides to call it a day. The clubhouse is pretty nifty too, complete with changing rooms, toilets, and a kitchen area.
And it’s not just about the tennis. The club grounds are a lovely spot to relax. With a patio and outdoor seating, it’s perfect for a post-match cuppa or just watching the world (and some tennis) go by.
Got little ones? They’ve got a junior net too, so you can introduce them to the game. And if you’re looking to practice solo, the ball machine (affectionately known as the ‘lobster’) is just the ticket.
